Staking is optional. UNIT held plainly is a dollar token and nothing more; UNIT staked earns a share of protocol proceeds.
How it works
The staking vault is an ERC-4626 vault whose underlying asset is UNIT. You deposit UNIT and receive vault shares. Proceeds accrue to the vault, so your share count stays the same while the amount of UNIT it converts to grows.
The app never shows shares as a separate token — a staked position simply reads as staked UNIT. That is deliberate: a freely tradable yield-bearing derivative of a dollar token invites secondary markets that price it away from par, and anyone buying there gets none of the screening guarantees that issuance provides. The vault restricts share transfers for the same reason.
Staking
Open the Stake tab, enter an amount, confirm. Two steps: approve UNIT to the vault, then deposit. There is no screening step — staking is a direct on-chain vault call and moves no value in or out of the protocol.
You can also stake at the moment of minting; see Minting UNIT.
Unstaking
Open the Unstake tab, enter an amount, confirm. No approval is needed — you are burning your own shares.
Tick Unstake & Redeem to go all the way back to USDT in one flow. That path does include screening, because it ends in a redemption.
There is no unbonding period and no withdrawal queue.
Rewards
| Period closes | Saturday, 12:00 UTC |
| Payout executed | Tuesday |
| Distribution | Cumulative Merkle claim |
Because roots are cumulative, missing a period costs you nothing — a later claim settles everything outstanding at once.
To collect, open the Claim tab. It shows what is claimable and submits the claim against the current root.
Totals paid out are published on the transparency dashboard.
Your position
The Position panel in the app shows your staked balance, its current value in UNIT including accrued yield, and the current exchange rate. The APY shown next to it comes from the protocol's own statistics.
