Redeeming UNIT

Turning UNIT back into USDT at one-for-one.

Redemption converts UNIT back into USDT at one-for-one. It is the mirror of minting and is subject to the same authorisation.

The flow

1. Approve UNIT. The Minter needs an allowance to burn the UNIT you are redeeming. As with USDT, the app requests a standing allowance so this is a once-per-wallet step.

2. Verify. Screening runs — and it runs before anything is recalled from the reserve. A redemption that does not clear causes no reserve movement at all; nothing is unwound on behalf of an operation that will not complete.

3. Redeem. The contract verifies the authorisation, burns your UNIT, recalls the matching USDT, and transfers it to you.

Rate

Redemption is exactly one-for-one. Unlike the mint leg, the redeem leg is given no slippage tolerance: a redemption that would pay less than one USDT per UNIT reverts rather than settling at a worse rate.

There is no redemption fee and no minimum holding period. You pay only the TRON network fee.

Redeeming a staked position

If your UNIT is staked, you have two options:

  • Unstake, then redeem — two separate operations.
  • Unstake & Redeem — tick the checkbox on the Unstake tab and the whole path runs as one flow: screening, unwind the vault position, pay out USDT.

The unstake-or-not choice is part of the signed authorisation, so it is fixed when the authorisation is issued.

Timing

Redemptions settle promptly in the ordinary case. They depend on liquidity in the reserve route, so under stressed market conditions they may be slower. This is an acknowledged property of deploying reserves at all, not a defect — it is covered in the whitepaper's risk section.
